When it comes to military dependents’ village in Taiwan , we can’t ignore its historical and political meanings; it’s the origin of differentiation。For Nationalism of Taiwan and sovereign-independent movement of Taiwan, signs such as slogans of political propaganda that placed in the military dependents’ village are manipulation of ideology. They manipulate the people in purpose of replacing Critical thinking with inject thoughts that keep the people away from gazing deep into their own mind and building thoughts in their own perspectives, not to mention speeding up of the world makes the circumstance worser.
The artist deconstructs slogans of political propaganda into letters and prints them on soft throw pillows. In the context of relational aesthetics, This work aims at inviting the viewers to think consciously in a place that full of colonial signs; putting those throw pillows of letters together in their own ways or interpreting the meanings of those letters in a new way.
